RECREATION & PROTECTED AREAS

There are very few public lands located within the Lower Alabama River Basin. However Recreation opportunities are available on each of the river's three lakes (See Hydrologic Modifications).

Autauga County Wildlife Management Area
Located 10 miles north of Prattville, the western border of this area is bordered by Autauga Creek a tributary to the Alabama River which also drains western Prattville.

Lowndes Wildlife Management Area
Located about twenty miles west of Montgomery this Wildlife Management Area occupies 8,585 acres in three seperate parcels located near the mainstem of the Alabama River on the section forming Woodruff Lake.
